A new Biathlon Alberta Race Series has been created. Following the success of the 2026 Alberta Winter Games, a new Regional Ecoaims Race Series has been created. These events are designed for athletes of all ages (but particularly those U11, U13, or U15 to compete in a biathlon race in a fun, approachable, and affordable environment. Event Formats will be unique and focus on participation rather than performance (ex. obstacle course sprint).
Three races will be held during the upcoming season, at venues that traditionally are unable to host Calforex Competitions due to range limitations. This will bring the competition to the doorstep of athletes, coaches, and officials who historically have to travel further distances to attend Biathlon Alberta events. The Regional Ecoaims Fun Races will be held:
- February 5, Red Deer
- February 20, Crowsnest Pass
- March 5, Fort McMurray
In order to make these events possible, NEW Parent Volunteers will be needed to assist with officiating roles during the race. No prior experience is needed, Biathlon Alberta will organize a Virtual Entry-Level Officials Course prior to the first event, and each race will be supervised by one of Alberta’s leading Officials. More information on how to register as an athlete or volunteer will be available in Mid-December.
