A Workshop for Student Athletes

Are you in high school and starting to look ahead? Worried about making a choice between Athletics or Academics? Concerned that both might be impossible? It can be difficult to stick with your pursuit of athletic excellence when many other opportunities abound. You can find a way to achieve your grades in high school without being shut out from Nordic training, selection and competition opportunities. Sport is an amazing opportunity, but it is also a grind filled with fear and doubt. You need a plan. But building an effective program takes skill and effort.

You can get the most out of your athletic career in a way that can also get the most out of your post-sport profession. It is evident that athletes who know where they are going, also find more success and fulfilment within their sport.

Ask yourself: Can you make it through the highest levels of training and selection while also planting seeds of education for your inevitable post-athletic career changes?

The time to learn is now. You’re only young once. Start early. The choice is yours. How will your high-performance athletic experience lay the groundwork for lifelong achievement, fulfilment and learning?

The Trainer

Adam Kreek is someone who continues to find excellence in his fields of choice. He moved from an average high school experience to the top of American and Canadian university athletics, and eventually won gold at the 2008 Olympics in Rowing. He then planned, fundraised and executed an adventure to row across the Atlantic Ocean – a 73-day adventure that ended (safely) with a capsize in the Bermuda Triangle.

Now a trainer and regular columnist with CBC, he has broken through the top 5% of his post-sport profession; Kreek is now aiming at the 1%.

Passionate about sport and life performance, Adam will walk you through exercises and concepts that teach the tools for a fulfilling and fruitful life in sport and after sport. Sport is a launching pad for the unrealized potential and can uncork the greatness you have inside. You will learn tools and gain insights into your deeper superpowers.

This workshop is designed by KreekSpeak Business Solutions for young athletes through the lens of personal experience, research and development that Adam Kreek and his team have accrued over a decade of consulting individuals, teams and businesses across North America and Europe. Adam will lead workshop activities that are reflective, interactive and empowering. Participants will leave with fresh ideas and solutions to implement immediately. Adam believes that audiences must be fully engaged and involved to obtain top results from our workshops. It is not enough to tell or teach. Adam facilitates transformational adult learning.

Adam Kreek Bio

An Olympic Gold Medalist, columnist, adventurer and social entrepreneur, Adam is a corporate trainer who walks the talk. Like many driven adults, he’s in the trenches, building his businesses and his vocation.

During his past 13-year rowing career, Adam won over 60 medals, including 43 gold medal performances. In 2012, Adam circumnavigated Vancouver Island by rowboat, then in 2013, he made the first ever attempt to row unsupported across the Atlantic Ocean from Africa to America, the subject of the NBC Dateline Documentary, Capsized. Adam is presently a columnist for CBC Sports; in his columns, he shares health and wellness strategies for Peak Performance. An engineer by training, Adam chairs the board of Cowichan Energy Alternatives, a low carbon start-up on Vancouver Island. Adam is also a Champion of the Canadian Men’s Health Foundation, an organisation dedicated to bettering health through science-based strategies.

Adam Kreek’s Tiny Tweaks – Dealing with Criticism

“You row an ocean by taking one stroke at a time. You build a business by solving one problem at a time. Make forward progress one inch at a time. Inch by inch. Repeat!” – Adam Kreek
