3:15-4:45pm Sport Psychology with Frank van den Berg, MSC
Sunday June 3rd
9:00am-11:00am Open Discussion with Alberta Coaches (Alberta Winter Games, Nationals, etc)
11:00am-12:00pm Lunch provided by Biathlon Alberta
This coach development weekend will be FREE to Alberta biathlon coaches and limited to a maximum of 20 attendees. Spots will be reserved on a first come first serve basis. The cost for out-of-province/non-biathlon coaches will be $125/person (biathlon coaches will have priority).
*Please note – lunch on Saturday and Sunday will be provided by Biathlon Alberta. All other meals will be the responsibility of each individual person.
Accommodations and subsidy from outside the Bow Valley
Biathlon Alberta will offer a mileage subsidy of $0.50/km for coaches outside the Bow Valley. Coaches are expected to carpool as the subsidy will only be provided for one vehicle from each city.
June in Canmore is very busy season so hotel bookings are few and far between. If you are coming from outside the bow valley and require accommodation please let me know as I have some hotel reserved.

The following sessions will be eligible for PD points – please note that in order to acquire these points coaches must be a registered member of Biathlon Alberta/Canada prior to attending the PD Weekend.

More Information about our Presenters:
Andrew Chisholm – After Andrew ended his biathlon racing career in 2015, he joined the Canadian Biathlon Team’s wax tech crew and has been a full time member since. Andrew has been a member of wax crews working on the World Cup, IBU Cup, World Junior Championship, Junior IBU Cup, and national championship stages (both XC and biathlon).
Mark Sheppard – Marc Sheppard, Altius proprietor, is the only Anschutz factory-trained service technician in the US with World Championships level competitive biathlon experience.
Sarah Kendall – Sarah is a registered dietitian with 25 years of experience, providing leadership in nutrition counselling. She has worked across Canada, developing expertise in specialized clinic nutrition and understanding nutrition’s impact on all we do. Sarah confidently delivers sound advice ranging from the nutrition needs of youth, to advising coaches on food strategy to help athletes with complex clinical conditions.
Frank van den Berg – Frank has 20 years of experience with providing applied sport psychology/mental performance consultant services for national and developmental team athletes, teams and coaches in The Netherlands and since 2005 in Canada. He applies a variety of tools and strategies to optimize preparedness and readiness of athletes, teams and their coaches to meet performance demands in training and competition with dedication, control and confidence. He is the Director of Mental Performance with the Canadian Sport Institute Calgary and a professional member of the Canadian Sport Psychology Association.
