Alberta Biathlon Club and Canmore Nordic Ski Club Summer Camps

The Alberta Biathlon Club and the Canmore Nordic Ski Club are pleased to offer summer day camps to athletes in Dev 1 shooting .22 rifles. The goals for the camp are to develop shooting and training skills in in a fun, collaborative environment. The instructors are senior biathletes who know how to have fun while training.

** Coaches - Biathlon Alberta Coach Development Weekend

Friday June 2nd
6:00-8:00pm “Ski technique” with Brian Mckeever. Bring your roller skis, pole and helmet.
8:00-10:00pm Open session with Biathlon Canada coach Roddy Ward. Enjoy a beverage and come prepared to ask him questions.
Saturday June 3rd
9:00-11:00am “Strength training for skiers” with CIS strength coach Anna Aylwin
11:00-12:00am Lunch provided by Biathlon Alberta
12:00-12:30pm Travel to Grinders Ski Service, 106 Boulder crescent. (BA Van provides some transportation)
2:30-4:30pm “Coaching the female athlete” with psychologist Natasha Kutlesa
4:30-5:30pm Coaches open discussion on Strategic Plan, Nationals and Age Groups
This coach development weekend will be FREE to Alberta biathlon coaches and limited to a maximum of 20 attendees. Spots will be reserved on a first come first serve basis. The cost for our-of-province/non-biathlon coaches will be $125/person (biathlon coaches will have priority).
*Please note – refreshments on Friday evening and lunch on Saturday will be provided by Biathlon Alberta. All other meals will be the responsibility of each individual person.
Accommodations and subsidy from outside the Bow Valley
Biathlon Alberta will offer a mileage subsidy of $0.50/km for coaches outside the Bow Valley. Coaches are expected to carpool as the subsidy will only be provided for one vehicle from each city.
June in Canmore is very busy season so hotel bookings are few and far between. If you are coming from outside the bow valley and require accommodation please let me know as host housing is available.
NCCP Professional Development Points
The following sessions will be eligible for 2 PD points each (8 total) – please note that in order to acquire these points coaches must be a registered member of Biathlon Alberta/Canada prior to attending the PD Weekend.
